We’re all about to experience a halftime show like no other. Following a report earlier this month that Lady Gaga was in talks to headline the Super Bowl LI halftime show, a new report suggests the singer has accepted the gig. In fact, an official announcement is expected during Sunday’s (Sept. 25) pregame show.

Terry Lefton of Sports Business Daily first broke the news and other sources say a deal has been made. On the surface, Lady Gaga, may be an odd choice for the halftime show. Diehard football fans are not necessarily lining up to be knighted “Little Monsters” (though some are). However, Gaga was warmly welcomed by the NFL/Super Bowl crowd after her rendition of the National Anthem at Super Bowl 50 earned much praise.

It also doesn’t hurt that Gaga is a bona fide international superstar. She will not only offer an exciting, over-the-top performance, but has the possibility of widening the audience of the already most-watched televised event of the year. Though it’s been a few years since the height of her popularity, Gaga is set to release her fifth studio album, Joanne, October 21st, which will most likely be incorporated into the performance.

It’s become somewhat of a tradition for the Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner to invite guest performers. It’s unknown if Gaga will follow suit, however, we can’t help but wonder if Houston native, Beyoncé will pop up just one more time!
